Flapjack

Attempt 1 - not good
- 250g jumbo porridge oats
- 125g butter
- 125g black sugar
- 3 tbsp golden syrup (depending on how gooey you want it)
- Melt butter + golden syrup
- Mix with oats and sugar
- Bake at 180C fan for 15 mins
Results: Burned, crumbly, dry
Attempt 2 - not good
- 150g porridge oats
- 100g jumbo oats
- 125g butter
- 80g cane sugar
- 45g black sugar
- 120g golden syrup
- Melt butter + sugar + golden syrup (I may have overdone it and made a caramel)
- Mix with oats, mix thoroughly
- Bake at 130C fan for 25 mins
Results:
- bad taste (due to cane sugar?)
- dry throughout (I accidentally used "combi" instead of fan oven)
Mum's recipe
- 50g butter
- 50g brown sugar
- 100g rolled oats
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- melt butter + sugar
- 20 mins at 180 C (non fan)
